Why Travel Freely Likes It
IHG just rolled out its new premium hotel card, the IHG One Rewards Premier Select World Elite Mastercard, and it is squarely built for one kind of traveler: the IHG loyalist. If a good chunk of your nights already land at IHG brands like Holiday Inn®, Kimpton®, or InterContinental®, this one is worth a look. It carries a $350 annual fee, so it is not for everyone, but it comes stocked with perks designed to earn that fee back for people who will actually use them: up to $300 a year in Food & Beverage Rewards to spend at IHG properties, a $200 annual airline statement credit, automatic Platinum Elite status, and an Anniversary Free Night you can redeem for a stay worth up to 60,000 points (with the option to top it off with your own points if you want to aim higher).
Here's our take: those credits are only worth their face value if you use them, so run the math on your own travel before you commit. If you rarely stay at IHG, or you would let the Food & Beverage Rewards and airline credit sit unused, a simpler card is the better fit. But if IHG is already your home base, the Anniversary Free Night alone can cover most of the annual fee, and the elite status plus elevated point-earning stack up fast on the stays you were booking anyway.
